WJUUP vows to fight for the rights of journalists

Journalists all over the world particularly in India are under tremendous pressure due to impact of pandemic on media. Print media is the worst affected one while TV channels and radio are also affected.  More and more journalists are migrated to digital media for their survival. However new challanges are emerging in online digital media as major chunk of advertisement revenues are syphoned out by the tech giants like the Facebook, microsoft twitter etc. Working Journalist Union Uttar Pradesh is trying to organise these journalists sprawling across different media platforms.
Although the central government has notified wage board awards long back following supreme court order quashing the plea of the management of the big newspaper houses, implementation of the wage board’s award is frustrating  Working Journalist Union Uttar Pradesh urges the state government to implement wage board awards in newspaper houses of the state by constructing a tripartite committee comprising the labour department, management of newspapers and journalists unions. Working Journalist Union Uttar Pradesh is also expressing serious concern for rampant violation of freedom of press and freedom of expression in the state. Almost everyday one or more journalists are either attacked, killed  and mentally harassed in the state.
